Unfortunately, Philipp couldn't join me to travel El Salvador so I crossed the border from Guatemala on my own. I was a bit apprehensive at first because institutions like the US Department of State state things like "Exercise increased caution in El Salvador due to crime" and "When possible, travel in pairs".
But what should I say? I was completely fine. I soon found out that tourist shuttles were out of my budget so I only travelled with chicken buses. And guess what? I was completely fine. Everybody was super nice and welcoming. I even hitchhiked – and believe me when I say that I am usually not a daredevil hitchhiker.
